SYNOPSIS

"SELVA CASI PROFUNDA" is a three-part documentary series that takes us to the heart of the Amazon jungle in the district of Quellouno, Province of La Convención, Cusco Region, Peru, to discover the cultural richness and ancestral wisdom of the Matsigenka communities.
Through these images, this documentary highlights the history that scarred the Matsigenka during the harsh trials of the rubber boom, evangelization and colonization. It also portrays their close connection with nature, the challenges and their resilience in the face of an ever-changing world. Phuyu invites us to reflect on the importance of preserving and protecting cultural diversity and the environment in today's globalised world.
